Director of the EU Reference Laboratory for E. coli. Develops genomics-based solutions for the study of food-borne bacterial pathogens and to improve signalling of food borne outbreaks. Author of about 80 peer-reviewed publications and editor of the book “Pathogenic Escherichia coli, molecular and cellular microbiology” (Caister Academic press).
