Verein Deutscher Ingenieure - Dr Volker Kefer has been President of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) since 2018. Dr Kefer was awarded the Grashof-Denk-Münze at the German Engineers’ Day in May 2017. Since 2017, he has been Managing Director of Kefer Invest GmbH and Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Vossloh AG. From 2006 to 2016, he worked for Deutsche Bahn AG, including from 2013 to 2016 as Group Board Member responsible for Infrastructure, Services and Technology, and additionally from 2015 as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of DB AG. From 2009 to 2013, he was the Group Board Member responsible for Technology and Infrastructure and from 2006 to 2009, he was Chairman of the Management Board of DB Netz AG. Particular successes were the concept development, tendering and awarding of the ICx, the connection generation of today’s ICE and IC fleet, as well as the representation of the “Stuttgart 21” project in public with a positive outcome of the referendum in November 2011.
