Mikatekiso Kubayi is a senior researcher at the Institute for Global Dialogue associated with UNISA (IGD). He is also a fellow at the Institute for Pan African Thought and Conversation (IPATC) at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and a PhD Candidate at UJ. He is an avid researcher on Power and its dynamics in the international system. He specializes in the global political economy of finance. The title of his Ph.D. research is ‘The Role of the NDB as a
Development Finance Institution in Support of the BRICS Reform and Development Agenda.’ He is a member of the South African Association of Political Studies (SAAPS). He is a recipient of the BRICS Mobility and Research Grant from the National Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS). His research interests include Power, Global Political Economy (global financial architecture), African Political Economy, and BRICS. His current scope of work includes Multilaterals, G20, BRICS, AU, and UN. He has presented at international conferences in Brazil (BRICS), India (Think20), and several other dialogues on the political economy of development finance.
