In the run-up to India’s T20 Inception Conference, to be held on 13-14 January 2023, the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID), the Global Solutions Initiative, and the T20 Secretariat are hosting an official T20 Roundtable on ‘Finance, Technology, People & Partnerships: The Building Blocks of Energy Transition’.
G20 countries need to undertake clean, affordable and inclusive energy transition to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and their net-zero ambitions. Such energy transition, in turn, needs the building blocks of finance, technology, people and partnerships to succeed as a cohesive whole. Task Force 4 on ‘Refuelling Growth: Clean Energy and Green Transitions’ of the Indian G20 Presidency’s T20 Engagement Group will continue the conversation from Indonesia’s T20 outcomes, and will reflect on the needs, priorities and national circumstances of the G20 countries in driving their clean energy transitions. This will include avenues to leverage international partnerships to deliver the critical elements of finance, technology and people where they are most needed for sustainable socioeconomic development, and a deep dive into what it would take to ensure coordination and alignment, across several policy areas, to see the transition through.
