Health as a Global Public Good: Why we need a Global Pandemic Treaty

The session is moderated by Professor Ilona Kickbusch, a member of the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) – which had initially proposed a framework for pandemic preparedness. A high-level representative of the European Union explains the initial intention of the proposal and where exactly it stands now, also the World Health Organization (WHO) defines how the negotiation process will be conducted with member states and what difference such a treaty could make for the work of the WHO, and in the end, we hear from one of the signatory countries calling for such a treaty from the Global Health. A CSO representative also explains what they would hope from such a treaty.
