The Covid-19 global pandemic has affected the world on many levels and exacerbated the different crises and disruptions that Higher Education has been facing for several decades. Initially, the pandemic triggered immediate reactions from Higher Educations Institutions (HEIs), such as a transition to distance learning, online methods as well as job placements, internship and mobility programs in virtual environments. It is now essential for G20 leaders to focus on mid- and long-term measures that trigger fundamental changes in educational systems in order to provide solutions to key global issues such as the widening skill mismatch and increasing unemployment.
This Global Table will discuss the need for change in existing Higher Education systems, as well as new ideas and suggestions of concrete and implementable educational policies, approaches and models to make Higher Education more relevant, flexible, inclusive, equitable and capable of preparing the new generations for the many global challenges awaiting them.
